In an unusual turn of events, two separate tickets matching all five numbers drawn in the Jan. 31 Show Me Cash drawing were purchased by the same player.
The winner explained that she ended up playing the same numbers on tickets from two different retailers for the same drawing.
Both winning tickets – one purchased at QuikTrip, 10601 State Line Road, and the other at QuikTrip, 13221 State Line Road in Kansas City – used her own personally selected set of numbers.
“My dad passed away in 1999, and I found those numbers he had written down in a book so I’ve been playing them since then,” she said.
The winning numbers on Jan. 31 were 1, 11, 14, 21 and 26. The winner added that her sister was the one to break the news to her.
“I called her and asked her if she could check if those were my numbers, and she called me back and said, ‘Yeah, they are!’” she said.
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $55,000.
