A Missouri Lottery player in Kansas City made an impromptu purchase and won the first $2 million top prize in the “200X The Cash” Scratchers game.
“I was having lunch with friends and just happened to walk by one of the (Lottery vending) machines. I had a wild hair so I bought the prettiest ticket,” the winner explained.
The “200X The Cash” ticket he bought at the Price Chopper located at 5665 E. Bannister Road, revealed one of the game’s top prizes.
“I didn’t think I’d won at first,” he explained. “Then I noticed I had a number match. I scratched the amount off and it was $2 million!
“I almost panicked, but a good kind of panic,” he laughed.
The winner shared plans to use some of the winnings to pay off student loans.
In FY23, players in Jackson County won more than $108.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received over $9.9 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $15.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
