Using the same numbers for nearly 40 years landed a Missouri Lottery player in Pulaski County an $80,000 Club Keno prize when she matched all nine numbers on her 9-Spot ticket.
She made the lucky purchase at LMC Convenience Store, 1302 Historic 66 West, in Waynesville – though it wouldn’t be until later, via a phone call with her son, that she learned how much she had won.
Her son was the one to take the ticket to be checked at retail, but he was not expecting what happened next when the clerk said she could not cash the ticket.
“She said, ‘Give me your phone,’’ the winner shared of her son’s interaction with the clerk. “So he gave her the phone, and she took a picture of it and said, “This is what your mom won, and that’s why we can’t pay her!’”
Her son then stepped out of the store to call her with the good news – she had won $80,000.
Plans for the winnings include buying a new car.
The 9-Spot ticket matched nine of the Club Keno numbers drawn to win a base prize of $30,000. Since she also chose to add the Bulls-Eye option to her play, the prize was increased to $80,000 when she matched the Bulls-Eye number drawn.
Club Keno is a fast-paced Draw Game, with drawings held every four minutes. The game can be played at a wide variety of establishments such as restaurants, bars, fraternal organizations, convenience stores, grocery stores and similar Missouri Lottery retailers.
In FY23, players in Pulaski County won more than $9.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $900,000 in commissions and bonuses, while more than $700,000 went to education programs in the county.
