A Missouri Lottery player in Cole County who won a $50,000 Scratchers prize knew exactly who to call first – her brother.
She shared she had been grocery shopping at Walmart, 401 Supercenter Drive in Jefferson City, with her mother when she purchased the ticket.
“My mom loves Scratchers tickets,” she explained.
After arriving home with their groceries, she sat down and scratched the ticket, revealing one of the game’s $50,000 top prizes.
“I called my brother and said, ‘I need to come by and talk to you,’” the winner said. “It’s just crazy!”
She plans to donate a portion of the winnings to her church.
“Crossword Xtreme” is a $3 Scratchers game which currently offers over $6.6 million in unclaimed prizes, including three additional top prizes of $50,000.
In FY23, players in Cole County won more than $16.2 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $1.5 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $5.5 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
