A Missouri Lottery “Full of $500s” Scratchers ticket purchased in Morgan County revealed a $100,000 top prize to a lucky couple.

One of the winners explained she had been running errands at Walmart, 1003 W. Newton in Versailles, when she purchased several Scratchers tickets before returning home. The next morning, they sat down to scratch the tickets together.

The other winner shared, “She goes, ‘Here’s your two, here’s mine.’ I started on one side and scratched and saw a symbol. I said, ‘Ok, probably five bucks.’ I kept scratching and uncovered two more symbols. I’m like, ‘I wonder what this prize is.’ I scratch off the first prize and it was $20,000.”

She’s sitting on the other side of the table and I’m sitting there not saying a word.”

His wife chimed in, “I don’t know how he kept a straight face.”

He continued, “I went down real quick and scratched the other two rows off and found two more symbols. I scratched those prizes and looked over at her and said, ‘What would it take for you not to go to work today?’”
She told me, ‘You didn’t win enough.’ I said, ‘Well, if I’m looking at this right, I just hit $100,000!’”

His wife recalled, “I said ‘You’re lying.’ Then he threw the ticket in front of me and I about fell out of my chair.”

They scanned their ticket on the official Missouri Lottery mobile app and verified it was a top-prize winning ticket.

“Several times a day I’d look at the ticket like, ‘Is this real? Has it changed since the last time I looked at it?’”

“We sent a picture to our family and they’re like, ‘No way, this isn’t real!’” he laughed. “I said, ‘Yeah, it’s real.’”

They shared plans to use some of their winnings for home improvements and put the rest in savings.

“Several people have suggested I retire earlier,” she shared. “It sure makes things a little more comfortable. He wants a boat!”

“I don’t want a fancy one,” he explained. “I just want a Jon boat.”

In FY23, players in Morgan County won more than $5.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $370,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $195,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
