An after-work purchase of a “Crossword Xtreme” Scratchers ticket in Callaway County led one Missouri Lottery player to a $50,000 top prize – but it wasn’t until her sister pointed it out that she realized just how much she’d won.
“She thought she won $5,000, but sister figured it out,” the winner’s sister laughed.
The lucky ticket stemmed from two $3 Scratchers tickets the winner received as a Mother’s Day gift from her husband. She used the money she won on those tickets to buy another..
“After I got off of work last night, I went over to Casey’s and got me a ticket and the rest of the money back and that’s what it was,” she said.
Unable to sleep, she waited until the next morning to text her sister.
“She about passed out,” her sister laughed.
The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s, 1301 Business 54 South, in Fulton.
“Crossword Xtreme” is a $3 Scratchers game with two $50,000 top prizes currently unclaimed.
In FY23, players in Callaway County won more than $8.8 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, while retailers received over $789,000 in commissions and bonuses. Educational programs in the county received more than $1.8 million.
