A convenience store clerk in Columbia chose a “Silver 7s” Scratchers ticket for a lucky Missouri Lottery player and unknowingly handed him one of the game’s top prizes.
"I just walked in, bought gas and said, 'Give me a $5 ticket.' I didn't even pick it. That's what they gave us," the winner recalled.
His ticket, bought at Break Time, 7701 Roanoke Drive, revealed multiple prizes – totaling $77,777.
"I had to ask my wife, 'Does that say what I think it says?'" the winner chuckled. “She said, 'I think so! I think you won $77,000!'"
Through Aug. 20, players can enter their eligible Scratchers tickets into the “Choose Your Dream Adventure” second-chance summer promotion for a chance to win in the “Dream Vacation” or “Dream Green” drawings. “Weekly Cash” drawings will also be held throughout the promotion.
In FY23, players in Boone County won more than $26.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $56.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
