A rainy Monday got a little brighter for a Boone County Scratchers player when he claimed a $50,000 prize on a “$500X” ticket at the Missouri Lottery’s Jefferson City office on Aug. 12.
The winner, who purchased the ticket at Steve-O’s, 4600 Paris Rd. in Columbia, shared it was the first time he had played the “500X” Scratchers game after noticing the ticket’s fun design.
“The graphic on it drew my eye to the ticket,” he explained. “I have never won anything like this before.”
To date, players have claimed more than $135.8 million in prizes playing “500X” – one of three $50 Scratchers games offered by the Lottery. There are currently more than $121.8 million remaining in unclaimed prizes, including a top prize of $5 million.
In FY23, players in Boone County won more than $26.1 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $2.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $56.2 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
