A birthday gift that included a Missouri Lottery “Money Rush” Scratchers ticket surprised a St. Louis man with a $100,000 top prize.
“Funny story is, I scratched the ticket and I thought it was worth $100!” the winner laughed. “Then I said, ‘Wait a minute – that’s not a period. That’s a comma!’”
What he initially thought were $5 prizes were actually $5,000, turning his prize into one of the game’s six $100,000 top prizes.
“It was a great birthday gift,” he added.
He plans to take a family trip and enjoy the holidays with his winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at Schnucks Market, 12332 Manchester Road, in St. Louis.
In FY23, players in St. Louis County won more than $207.7 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $20 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $76 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
