When a Missouri Lottery player asked her husband to buy a Cash4Life ticket for the Jan. 28 drawing, she had no idea she would win one of the largest prizes offered in the game.
“I called him and asked him to pick me up a ticket on his way home,” she explained of the ticket he purchased at Casey’s, 508 W. Main St., in Cole Camp.
After the drawing had occurred, she checked the winning numbers drawn and thought there must have been a mistake.
“When I saw it, I was just numb!” she said. “I had someone else check it, and I thought for sure it was a mistake!”
The ticket matched all five white-ball numbers drawn – 22, 40, 45, 54 and 60 – to win $1,000 a week for life.
She quickly called her husband to share the news.
“I was sitting in my recliner and she calls me,” her husband said. “And I told her I was getting my shoes on so we could go to Jefferson City!”
Cash4Life is drawn daily at 8 p.m., with a top prize of $1,000 a day for life, as well as a second-tier prize of $1,000 a week for life.
Players who purchased tickets in Benton County in FY24 won more than $3.6 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $371,000 in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $1 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
