While looking at the Scratchers tickets at MK Market, 12033 Bellefontaine Road in St. Louis, the “Big Cash Riches” game was a lucky Missouri Lottery player’s first pick.
“I only play the games with the bonus scratching area on the back,” the winner said. “So I’ve played that game since it came out.”
After she purchased the ticket, she brought it home and then left it on her nightstand for nearly two weeks before scratching it off.
“I scratched everything off the front of the ticket and I didn’t win anything, but then I flipped it over to the back,” she explained. “And the first thing I scratched, it said $20,000!”
Excited by the amount already, she finished scratching off the rest of the ticket only to realize she had won one of the game’s $100,000 top prizes.
“I held it up to my heart and my mouth dropped open,” she said. “I must have held it for two hours!”
She then went to her son’s room to show him the ticket, and he was just as excited as she was.
“He said, ‘We’re rich!’” she laughed.
So far, “Big Cash Riches” players have won over $7.8 million in prizes playing the $5 game. There are currently over $12.5 million in unclaimed prizes, including three additional top prizes of $100,000 and five prizes of $20,000.
Players who purchased tickets in St. Louis County in FY24 won more than $200.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $19.4 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $161.2 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
