A Missouri Lottery player had no idea the ticket he had purchased at Premier Bowling & Recreation Center, 11400 E. Route 350 in Raytown, was a winner until a friend gave him a heads up.
“My friend called me and asked if I had checked my numbers because he knew that someone had won the jackpot at the place I usually buy my tickets,” the winner explained.
His friend told him he knew the winning numbers in the Jan. 23 drawing started with a 9 – the same number on his ticket.
“I told him I would take a look, and that’s when I realized I had all the winning numbers,” he said.
The ticket he purchased on a whim while bowling turned out to match all five numbers drawn – 9, 23, 32, 34 and 37 – to win the $222,000 jackpot prize.
“I like playing the Missouri Draw Games,” he said. “And this time it actually hit, and I was shocked!”
Show Me Cash is drawn daily at 8:59 p.m., with jackpots that start at $50,000 and grow until won. Tonight’s jackpot is estimated at $77,000.
Players who purchased tickets in Jackson County in FY24 won more than $109.8 million in total Missouri Lottery prizes. Retailers received more than $9.8 million in commissions and bonuses, and education programs in the county received more than $22 million in appropriated Lottery proceeds.
